Label TextHarvey K. Littleton (American, 1922–2013) Sliced Arc (Green/Amber Descending Form) Blown and cut glass, 1983 Gift of Carolyn K. and Richard F. Barry III By the early 1970s, Littleton’s work evolved from blown to solid forms that allowed gravity to impart shape to the molten, viscous material. These forms were first stretched into tall columns, and later shaped into truncated loops or graceful curves. The resulting negative spaces (or voids) were integral to the aesthetic integrity of the work. Arc captures Littleton’s interest in forming larger, assembled works with dramatic exterior and interior space impossible to achieve in another medium.
