The reduced aesthetic of elegant, mid-20th century Italian and Scandinavian glass design has always resonated in Moore’s work. He is a master in exerting complete control over the complex medium with unsurpassed skill, sophistication of form, and minimal, graceful design concepts that rely on the inherent colorations of blown glass. Engaged with the Pilchuck Glass School near Seattle since its foundation in the early 1970s, Moore has been an influential force in educating young artists working in glass. His Sahara Palla Set, invoking the desert sun oscillating the air over the ancient sand dunes, is part of the artist’s signature series begun in 1983.
