Carved Wooden Lady
Carved and painted wood, human hair, silk, and cotton. Unmarked, about 1830–1840
Gift of Carolyn K. and Richard F. Barry III
This 19th-century wooden doll is a successor to the 18th-century doll displayed nearby. She has fine, modelled features, a carved recess for the placement of hair, and enamel eyes. Her dowel-articulated limbs are painted, her feet showing fanciful stockings and boots.
