Label TextFritz Dreisbach (American, born 1941) Wildly Waving Antique Blue Lilac Mongo Compote Hand-blown colorless glass with hot-worked filigree canes, tooled, applied, 1994 Gift of Carolyn K. and Richard F. Barry III Viscous moment is exactly what I want all of my work to demonstrate. ~Fritz Dreisbach, 2018 Fritz Dreisbach is an artist, craftsman, educator and renowned glass technician. Along with fellow student Dale Chihuly, he studied with studio glass pioneer Harvey Littleton at the University of Wisconsin, then at the University of Iowa. Shortly thereafter he became the first director of the glass studio at the Toledo Museum of Art, School of Design and became one of the founders of the Glass Art Society in 1971. Known for free-formed hot-blown designs that loosely take their inspiration from traditional Venetian glass from the Renaissance through the 1950s, this massive vessel form expresses his exuberant approach to the medium.
