Label TextEmma E. Adams, (American, d.1900) Columbian Doll Marked: “Columbian Doll Emma E. Adams, Oswego Center, NY,” about 1893 Gift of Carolyn K. and Richard F. Barry III Awarded a medal of Honorable Mention at the Chicago Columbian Exposition in 1893 – the little globe on her chest commemorates the event. They were lighter and less breakable than the bisque dolls, and easy to clean. The Marshall Fields Company in Chicago became a major distributor.
