This character doll demonstrates the high quality of design and execution maintained at the company of Bruno Schmidt. The dolls’ heads were made at the porcelain factory Baehr & Pröschild in Ohrdruf, a firm Schmidt purchased in 1918.
Her bisque head has finely modeled features, with a protruding upper lip typical for this model. The model became known to American collectors as “Wendy,” after appearing in the book by Madalaine Selfridge entitled Wendy and Friends in 1969.
